How do you define happiness? When you satisfied your all personal needs then you got happiness? No, I think if someone gets a smile on his/her face because of you, then you get happiness.

Anand Kumar, who gave smiles on the face of hundreds of students is my role model. He is known for his “super 30" batch for IIT coaching.

His father working as a clerk in the post office, he took his school education in the Hindi medium. After it, he got admission to Cambridge University but not able to study there because of poor financial conditions. After it, he studied at Patna University. Every weekend he traveled 6 hours by train to Varanasi(a city in Uttar Pradesh state) to read some foreign journals that not available in his university. During the evening he sold some Papad(food item) to earn some money to fulfill his daily need.

In 2000 he took a classroom on Rs.500 rent and started coaching to students that have a poor financial situation. He started classes with only 2 students. In 2003 he started a “Super 30” program, in which he gives education for the IIT exam which is one on the tough examination. Every year he takes the entrance test to select 30 students with an intelligent mind but poor economical conditions (including children of beggars, auto-drivers, etc). His mother also prepares food for all 30 students. He teaches mathematics and some other tutors teach other subjects.

Mother’s words: “I had no money for his school fees, but today my son going to IIT”

From 2003 to 2017, 391 students out of 450 qualified to take admission to IIT (Top-level engineering college in India). In 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2017 all 30 students cleared the IIT examination.

After this much success, he got offers from many universities, but he rejected it. Also, former president of the USA, Barack Obama offered to provide all assistance, but he rejected all.

These are the words of his, “Start the business with whatever amount of money you have and try to avoid taking help from people. Even I have never taken any monetary help from anybody I was getting offers from not just the government of Bihar but big business tycoons. While I am grateful to all those who approached me with the help I am happy the way I am — pursuing my love for mathematics.”

So this is the reason why he is my Role Model!!!
